Sohcahtoa is a mage of the mages. Studies hard to understand magic, not to simply learn spells. More at home squirreled away with his nose in a book than on the field of battle. Combat in this world being inevitable, combat style on his own resembles that of an assasssin. Combat is not without honor, it is just done in such a style to preserve his own life and to take the life of any that oppose.
His studies in magic are looking more promising. He is more able to control fire, as creating heat for cold troops at winter battles being more successful, as fewer troops are dying. Hopes here are to harness the killing powers of fire for killing or maiming in the following years.
His hobbies include the use of ice spells. Less deadly, but always good for a giggle.
As a mage with few spells under control at this time, he is trained with the staff. With some set backs to his magic progression, sword and board training might also be in his future.

While no official affilation, Sohcahtoa is drawn to other magic users. To watch and learn, to teach when opportunities exist. Preserving the knowledge of magic is a key unit here.
Any group that holds power will be of interest of self preservation. A group that holds power and promises some protection of the magic arts, will hold long term interest.
