The battlegame is a game of combat that allows for the abilities of the classes in Wandering Ronin to be used. There are many variations of the battlegame, from simple annihilation to capture the flag to anything you can design. Most battles in Wandering Ronin are constructed around this premise, and many a day is spent in battlegames of various form.
From the Rulebook:
Battlegames are the bread and butter of Wandering Ronin. It is how many afternoons are spent: two or
more groups of classed fighters, fighting on the field in an attempt to destroy each other or achieve
some set goal, and generally enjoying all the aspects of medieval fantasy combat. The general rules
for a battlegame are listed below, so read up and prepare your gear!
1. Switching classes without beforehand having a listed class or race ability to do so during a battlegame
is not allowed, barring a pre-planned scenario.
2: Switching sides during a battlegame is forbidden, barring a pre-planned scenario.
3. Never touch anyone’s personal property or equipment without consulting with them and getting
permission to do so first.
4: The following activities are strictly forbidden:
a. Any movement or combat during a hold. Does not apply to Judicators or people helping remedy
the reason for the hold.
b. Intentionally striking any non-combatant. Grounds for immediate ejection from the game. Calling
a hold in an attempt to either retrieve spent or dropped items or to gain some other advantage that
hold is not meant to cover.
d. Attempting to influence or interact with a game while you are dead, unless you have a pre-listed
ability or scenario that allows for it.
e. Using any loopholes or gray areas in the rules to derive an advantage on the battlefield.
5. Players who intentionally break the rules may be removed from the game by a Judicator instantly.
